WFUSM affiliated authors may publish in any Frontiers journal with a 15% discount.
If a Wake Forest University School of Medicine-affiliated corresponding author submits their manuscript with a @wakehealth.edu institutional email address domain, the discount will be automatically applied IF the article is accepted for publication. If submission is done with another email domain, but Wake Forest University School of Medicine is indicated as the affiliation, Frontiers will verify eligibility for the discount with Coy C. Carpenter Library. The author will receive an email after submission about discount details and applicability.

WFUSM and IGI Global, a publisher specializing in Business & Management; Scientific, Technical, & Medical (STM); and Education have entered an agreement to encourage open access publishing. Faculty who publish journal articles and book chapters in IGI Global's many publications can receive a 5% discount on processing charges. The discount is applied after double-blind peer review and acceptance. Manuscripts can be submitted via IGI Global's eEditorial Discovery manuscript submission system using the IGI Global Portal.
WFUSM and WFU has a deal with Karger Publishers offering publishing assistance for open access articles. As a member of the institution, authors are eligible to publish their article at no cost to the author when they are accepted for publication in any Karger journal.
MDPI is an organizational acronym used by two related organizations, Molecular Diversity Preservation International and Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute. Authors affiliated with WFUSM will receive a 10% discount on the APC.
Open Access Policy | Article Processing Charge
Wake Forest School of Medicine is currently a member of the institutional open access program (IOAP). IOAP advantages:
• Authors affiliated with WFUSM will receive a 10% discount on the APC.
• Institution is granted free access to the MDPI submission system and can receive free alerts of new submissions to MDPI journals.
WFUSM and WFU authors may publish at no cost in Oxford open access in ONLY hybrid journals. This means the author will not be responsible for the article processing charge. The list below includes all of Oxford's open access journals so please sort by hybrid journals as these are the ones which qualify under the Oxford agreement.
For WFUSM authors, Royal Society of Chemistry provides a full waiver (no cost) for article processing charges on all open access and hybrid access journals.
Under this agreement with Royal Society of Publishing, WFUSM authors may choose to publish open access in eight hybrid and two fully OA journals - all offering a 25% discount on the article processing charge. Journal details listed here (agreement does not include Biographical Memoirs). When submitting from the journal webpage, the author chooses open access using @wakehealth.edu email then under membership, choose WFUSM and the discount is automatically applied.
Wake Forest University libraries have an agreement with Sage Publishing to support Open Access publishing. Under the agreement, Sage is offering a 10% discount on APC cost to WFUSM faculty if they are the corresponding author for accepted publication in a Sage gold OA journal.

WFUSM affiliated authors may publish open access in any of Wiley's hybrid journals (subscription-based journals that offer an open access option) at no cost to the author. Between September and December 2024, for Wiley or Hindawi fully open access journals, please reach out to Dianne.
